Moving a Flat in One Day in Jeddah 0544866865 : An Hour-by-Hour Plan to Your First Night

Moving a flat in one day in Jeddah is entirely possible; for small and medium flats it is what we normally do, on one condition: moving day must be for moving only, not for packing and hunting for cartons. At Jeddah Dabab Express we see the difference every week between a ready home that is done before noon and an unprepared one whose day runs into the night. Call or WhatsApp 0544866865 to book, and follow this plan to sleep in your new home tonight.

Most people fail to finish in one day not for lack of time but for lack of order. The owner starts the day by calling the mover, then begins packing after the crew arrives, and the first hours become chaos: the men wait, cartons run short, the wardrobe is still full of clothes, and the lift is busy because nobody told the guard. The fix is to split the job into two stages: preparation in the days before, and the move itself in one focused day.

Moving day on one card
  • Preparation comes two or three days ahead: labelled cartons and empty wardrobes.
  • The dabab, our small open-bed pickup, arrives early; dismantling and loading happen before the heat.
  • A small two-bedroom flat usually fits one large-wanet trip from SAR 320.
  • In the new home: beds first, then fridge and washer, then wardrobes.
  • Papers, gold, keys and medicines ride with you, not in the load.

Is one day enough for your flat?

Before you plan, know the limits. A one- or two-bedroom flat with a majlis and a small kitchen moves comfortably in a day if it is ready, and a three-bedroom flat can too, with a bigger vehicle, a bigger crew and a very early start. A villa or very large flat may need two days, or one long day with more than one vehicle. The factor that changes everything is the floor: a fourth-floor flat with no lift in an old building takes twice as long as the same flat on the ground floor, so see our guide to moving without a lift if that is you.

Flat size Suitable vehicle One day enough?
Studio or one room Dabab Yes, often half a day
A room and a majlis Dabab in two trips or a medium wanet Yes, comfortably
Two small bedrooms and a majlis Large wanet Yes, if it is ready
Three bedrooms or more Dyna or a wanet in two trips Yes, with an early start and a bigger crew
A villa or very large flat Dyna or more than one vehicle A long day or two days

To choose the vehicle precisely, see the dabab vs wanet vs dyna guide.

If you are torn between a dabab and a wanet, do not guess; the full detail is in our dabab vs wanet vs dyna guide. Our general advice: on a one-day move, one trip in the right vehicle beats two in a small one, because the second trip eats at least two hours of loading, driving and unloading.

A week before: the big decisions

The week before the move is for decisions, not packing. This is when you book, decide what goes and what you will let go of, and get the new home ready to receive the furniture. Every decision you put off until moving day costs you double the time on that day.

  • Book the dabab or wanet: send the list of items, both districts and the floor, and fix the date and final price.
  • Let go of what you do not need: a piece you will not use in the new home is not worth moving and counting in the load.
  • Measure the new home: know where each wardrobe and bed will stand, and check that large pieces pass through the doors.
  • Clean the new home first: an empty flat is far easier to clean than one with cartons everywhere.
  • Sort out power and water: make sure the meter works and water is connected before moving day.
  • Gather cartons and materials: strong cartons in different sizes, tape, a thick marker and small bags for screws.

The two days before: packing and labelling

Two days out, gather the cartons and pack everything you do not use daily: out-of-season clothes, books, spare dishes, ornaments and toys the children can do without for two days. Label every carton with its room, and use a colour or number per room if you want unloading to go faster. For wrapping delicate pieces like mirrors and screens, see our guide to packing furniture before moving.

The last day before the move is for the heavy jobs. Empty drawers and wardrobes completely, since a full wardrobe is heavier, riskier on the stairs and can crack its shelves. Switch the fridge off in the evening following the manufacturer’s instructions and wipe out the water, and run a drain cycle on the washer and disconnect its hoses. Pack a first-night bag: tomorrow’s clothes, toiletries, chargers, medicines, the children’s things, a small kettle and some cups. That bag rides with you in the car.

Give every room a colour
Red stickers for the main bedroom, blue for the children’s room, green for the kitchen, and the same colour on each room’s door in the new home. A mover walks in with a carton and puts it in the matching room without asking, and that saves you an hour of shifting cartons between rooms in the evening.

Moving day, hour by hour

This is a typical schedule for a ready two-bedroom flat, with an early start that suits Jeddah’s climate. Times are approximate and shift with floor, distance and load, but the order stays the same, and the order is what makes the day end on time.

Time What happens Note
After dawn The dabab or wanet arrives; a quick walk round the pieces Delicate pieces and what to dismantle are picked out
Early morning Beds and wardrobes dismantled; large pieces wrapped Screws go into numbered bags
Mid-morning Loading: heaviest first, then sofas, then cartons The load is strapped from several sides
Before noon The drive to the new home Depends on the distance between districts
Midday Unloading, each piece to its room Cartons follow the room colours
Afternoon Beds assembled, then wardrobes; appliances placed The fridge settles before it is switched on
Late afternoon and evening First-night cartons unpacked; bedroom made up Other cartons over the following days

Notice the schedule starts early on purpose. In a Jeddah summer, work after noon is slower and harder, wrapped pieces should not stand long in the sun, and leather and wood suffer in the heat. If the morning is impossible, start after mid-afternoon; for timing in the heat see our guide to moving in the Jeddah summer heat.

Loading order and unloading order

Loading order is not about looks; it protects the furniture and shortens unloading. Heavy and large pieces go in first, at the bottom and the front of the bed: dismantled wardrobes, the fridge upright, the washer, bed panels. Then sofas, tables and chairs, then heavy cartons followed by light ones, and at the very end what you need first on arrival, such as mattresses and the essential kitchen cartons. That way, the first thing off is the first thing you need.

  1. First: large appliances, dismantled wardrobes and bed panels.
  2. Second: sofas, tables and chairs, with blankets between them.
  3. Third: heavy cartons such as books and dishes, then light ones.
  4. Fourth: mirrors and glass upright, braced in a fixed spot.
  5. Last: mattresses and first-night cartons, so they come off first.

In the new home: what goes up first

When the furniture reaches the new home it is tempting to open every carton at once, which turns the house into a storeroom for days. It is better to assemble by tonight’s needs: beds first so everyone sleeps well, then the fridge and washer in their places, then the wardrobes. We handle dismantling and assembly and label parts and screws so everything goes back as it was; the service is described in furniture dismantling and assembly in Jeddah.

Do not switch the fridge on the moment it arrives; follow the manufacturer’s waiting time. We always carry it upright to keep that wait to a minimum, and the method for every appliance is in moving household appliances in Jeddah. In the evening, set up only the bedroom, bathroom and basic kitchen, and leave the rest of the cartons for tomorrow without pressure.

Mistakes that waste hours of your day

  • Starting late: a start after mid-morning in summer means working in peak heat.
  • Packing on moving day: this alone adds two or three hours.
  • Full wardrobes: heavier to carry, slower to dismantle, and their shelves can crack.
  • Not telling the guard: the lift is busy or locked, so the crew takes the stairs.
  • No plan for where things go: everything lands in the living room and you spend the evening moving it.
  • Mixed-up screws: an hour of sorting before the bed goes together.
  • Valuables in the load: keys and papers get lost among cartons.
Agree with both building guards
Call the guard at the old and new buildings the day before and ask about the lift, when it can be used and where the vehicle can stop. That short call saves a full hour on moving morning.

Before you hand back the old flat

After the last carton leaves, do not shut the door straight away. Walk through room by room and open the drawers, built-in cupboards, under the sink, the balcony and the laundry room, as these are where things get forgotten. Photograph the empty flat if you are a tenant to record its condition, unplug any appliances staying behind, and turn off water and gas if needed. Then hand over the keys once you are sure you have everything.

What a one-day flat move costs

The cost depends on the load, the vehicle, the floor and any dismantling. A one-bedroom flat by dabab between neighbouring districts starts from SAR 110, a small two-bedroom flat in a large wanet from SAR 320, with dismantling and assembly added by the number of pieces. We give the final price before loading and it holds while the items match. For every part of the price, see our furniture moving cost guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is one day enough to move a two-bedroom flat?

Yes, if the cartons are packed and the wardrobes emptied before the date. A small two-bedroom flat usually goes in one large-wanet trip from SAR 320, with the beds assembled by evening.

When should moving day start in Jeddah?

Early in the morning after dawn is best, especially in summer, so loading ends before the heat peaks. If the morning is impossible, start after mid-afternoon or after sunset.

What should I prepare before moving day?

Pack and label cartons by room, empty drawers and wardrobes, switch off the fridge the night before following the manufacturer’s instructions, and pack a bag for the first night.

What is loaded first?

Large and heavy pieces such as dismantled wardrobes and appliances go in first at the bottom, then sofas and tables, then cartons, and last the things you need that first night.

What is assembled first in the new home?

Beds first so you can sleep, then the fridge and washer in their places, then the wardrobes. Cartons are unpacked gradually over the following days.

Do I need a dabab or a wanet to move a flat?

A small two-bedroom flat suits a large wanet in one trip, and a one-bedroom flat can go by dabab. Bigger flats need a dyna or two trips, and we suggest the right option once we know the items.

Do you dismantle and reassemble beds and wardrobes the same day?

Yes, dismantling happens at loading and assembly on arrival, priced by the number of pieces. Ask for an itemised quote before the date.

What wastes time on moving day?

Leaving packing for the day itself, full wardrobes, not booking the lift or telling the guard, and not deciding where pieces go in the new home.

Should valuables travel with the furniture?

No. Documents, gold, keys, medicines and small devices stay with you in your car, as they are the easiest things to lose among cartons.
