Moving a full bedroom in Jeddah — bed, mattress, wardrobe, dresser and nightstands? We dismantle, number, wrap the mirrors, carry it on one dabab in most cases and rebuild it in the new home, from SAR 110 between neighbouring districts.
The bedroom is what Jeddah families move by dabab most often, and also where most mistakes happen: a mirror broken because it lay flat, screws lost so the bed creaks for years, a wardrobe carried full so its shelves collapse. Moving a bedroom in Jeddah with Jeddah Dabab Express follows a fixed order: empty, dismantle with numbers, wrap mirrors and surfaces, load in order and rebuild fully in the new home. A room of furniture between neighbouring districts starts from SAR 110. Call or WhatsApp 0544866865 with a photo of the room and we give the final price before loading. (A dabab is a small pickup truck with an open rear bed, common in Jeddah for room moves.)
This guide explains the method as we actually apply it in homes. You will see what gets taken apart and what travels whole, how to handle a sliding wardrobe and a hydraulic storage bed, why the wardrobe goes up before the bed, when one dabab trip is enough and when you need two, and what you can do before we arrive so the move finishes on time.
- Empty before the day: wardrobe, drawers and dresser completely clear.
- Dismantle in order: bed first, then wardrobe, with a numbered screw bag for each piece.
- Mirrors travel upright, wrapped in cardboard and blankets, with nothing on top.
- Rebuild in the new home: wardrobe first, then bed, then the small pieces.
- A room between neighbouring districts from SAR 110; dismantling and assembly priced by pieces.

What a bedroom includes, and is one dabab enough?
A typical bedroom in a Jeddah home has a bed with its base, headboard and side rails, a mattress, a wardrobe of one or more sections, a dresser with a mirror, and two nightstands. Sometimes there is also a chair or small sofa, a desk for the children, and cartons of clothes and bedding. The mattress is usually the longest piece, and it decides how we arrange the load in the bed.
Is a dabab enough? In most cases yes, once things are taken apart and arranged properly. But a large wardrobe with six doors or more, plus a full room and many cartons, can take half the bed on its own; then we suggest two dabab trips or a small wanet furniture move, worked out with you on the phone before we set off so there is no surprise halfway through the day:
| Room type | One dabab enough? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Children’s room: single bed, small wardrobe | Easily | Toy cartons fit too |
| Standard bedroom: double bed, medium wardrobe, dresser | Yes | After taking the bed and wardrobe apart |
| Master bedroom with a large multi-section wardrobe | Sometimes | Two trips or a small wanet, depending on size |
| Bedroom with many clothes cartons | Usually | Cartons go on top of the flat panels |
| Two bedrooms together | Usually not | Two trips or a medium wanet |
Send a photo of the wardrobe with its measurements on WhatsApp so we can judge accurately.
The right order for moving a bedroom
What are the steps for moving a bedroom? Order matters more than speed, because a step out of place wastes an hour in the new home. This is the order we follow in every room:
- Emptying: clear the wardrobe, drawers, dresser and nightstands before the day, and strip the bed.
- Photos: we photograph the wardrobe and bed before dismantling, especially unusual designs, as a reference for rebuilding.
- Bed apart: we start with the bed because it frees floor space; the mattress is lifted and covered, then headboard, rails and base come apart.
- Wardrobe apart: doors first, then shelves and drawers, then the carcass if needed, with a number label on each part.
- Keeping screws: a numbered bag for each piece, taped onto it, not one bag for the whole room.
- Wrapping: mirrors in cardboard and blankets, wood surfaces in blankets and film, edges in cardboard corners.
- Loading: large flat panels first against the headboard, then the mattress, then small pieces and cartons, mirrors upright in the middle.
- Covering and strapping: a net and straps before setting off, with tension checked after the first bump on a long trip.
- Rebuilding: wardrobe first, then bed, then dresser, mirror and nightstands, then doors hung and aligned.
Wardrobes: each type has its method
The wardrobe is the heart of the room and its hardest piece. Not all wardrobes are alike: solid wood is handled differently from MDF, and a sliding wardrobe is a case of its own:
Wardrobes with hinged doors
We take the doors off their hinges and keep the hinges with their screws in a bag, then remove shelves and take the carcass apart if it will not pass the door. Doors are wrapped in pairs, faces inward with a blanket between, so handles never rub the other door. When rebuilding we adjust the hinges so the doors close on one line, because a door that hangs crooked after a move is what annoys people most.
Sliding wardrobes
A sliding wardrobe’s doors are lifted off the track first; they are often heavy and may be full mirrors, so they need two movers. Then the top and bottom tracks come off and are numbered, because swapping them stops the doors gliding smoothly. Doors travel upright side by side between thick blankets and cardboard, as in the image below. Rebuilding a sliding wardrobe takes a little longer to set the track and rollers.

MDF versus solid wood
MDF and chipboard wardrobes dislike repeated dismantling, as each time widens the screw hole a little until it loses grip. So if the wardrobe passes through the door and stairs whole, we move it whole, emptied and with only its doors removed. Solid wood copes better with dismantling but is heavier and needs its finish protected from scratches. In Jeddah humidity MDF should not stay wrapped in plastic for days, as we explain in moving furniture in Jeddah summer heat.
Built-in wardrobes
Some flats have wardrobes fixed to the wall. One fixed with screws can usually be taken down, with a small repair to the screw holes afterwards; one built into the wall with plasterboard or fixed timber normally stays, and trying to remove it damages both wardrobe and wall. We assess it on arrival and tell you plainly; check with the landlord before removing anything fixed, especially in a flat you do not own.
The bed, mattress and small pieces
An upholstered headboard in fabric or leather needs care: film never goes straight onto fabric, a blanket comes first, since film can leave marks or trap damp. Carved wooden headboards are protected with corners and a double blanket, because raised carvings are the first thing to break.
Clothes and bedding: emptying the wardrobe smartly
Emptying the wardrobe is what delays bedroom moves most, because many people leave it to the last night. The quickest method is to leave hanging clothes on their hangers, gather each group into a large bin bag with a hole at the top for the hooks, or into dedicated wardrobe boxes. You can then hang them in the new wardrobe in minutes instead of folding and unfolding. Folded clothes go into suitcases; the suitcases have to move anyway, so why move them empty?
- Label cartons by room — “master bedroom”, “children’s room” — on the side, not the lid.
- Put bedding and pillows in large bags; they are light and fill gaps in the load.
- Carry jewellery, documents and watches yourself; never leave them in the drawers.
- Pack a first-night box with bed linen, pillows, a towel and a phone charger.
For wrapping each type of furniture, and what needs no wrapping at all, see packing furniture before moving in Jeddah.
Loading on the dabab
How the load sits on an open dabab bed is what protects the room on the road. Large flat panels, such as the wardrobe carcass and bed base, go against the front headboard, upright or flat on the floor, as they are heaviest and strongest. Then the mattress on or beside them, acting as a soft layer that shields what lies behind. Then the dresser, nightstands and cartons, with mirrors upright in the middle between two soft pieces. Each row is strapped before anything goes on top, and the whole load is netted so bedding and bags cannot lift away.

Upper floors and narrow stairs
After appliances, the bedroom holds the heaviest pieces in the home, and a large wardrobe will not fit some lifts in older buildings. Then the wardrobe comes apart to its panels and goes down the stairs with two movers, banisters and walls padded with blankets. Sometimes lowering from the balcony with ropes is safer than a twisting stairway, once the spot and the piece are confirmed safe. The floor and lift are included in the price from the start; our guide to moving without a lift in Jeddah has the details.
Cost and time
How much does moving a bedroom cost? It depends on the distance between districts, dismantling and assembly, and the floor. These are the starting prices from our list:
| Item | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| One bedroom piece within the district (bed or wardrobe) | from SAR 65 | Without dismantling |
| A bedroom between neighbouring districts | from SAR 110 | Wrapping and strapping on the vehicle |
| A bedroom from north to south Jeddah | from SAR 185 | The room with its cartons |
| Small wanet for a room with a large wardrobe | from SAR 140 | When a dabab is not enough |
| Bed and wardrobe dismantling and assembly | Set by number and type of pieces | Ask for an itemised quote |
| Moving to Makkah or Taif | Set by load and destination | Ask for a trip quote |

As for time, we do not give a figure to the minute, because it depends on things we cannot see before arriving. But a normal single-room move, from dismantling to rebuilding, usually takes part of a day. It runs longer with a sliding wardrobe, a hydraulic bed or a high floor without a lift, and much shorter when the room is already empty and the new space is ready. What raises the price generally is what raises the time, and what lowers it is preparation.

Common bedroom moving mistakes
| Mistake | Result | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Moving the wardrobe full | Broken shelves and bent hinges | Empty it completely before the day |
| Carrying the mirror flat | Almost certain breakage | Carry it upright and wrapped |
| All the room’s screws in one bag | An hour of sorting at assembly | A numbered bag per piece |
| Dismantling an MDF wardrobe needlessly | Widened screw holes | Move it whole if it fits |
| Leaving the mattress uncovered | Dirt and tears | A clean plastic cover |
| Folding the mattress to fit | Broken springs | Carry it flat or on its side |
| Building the bed before the wardrobe | Cramped working space | Wardrobe first, always |
| Mixing up a sliding wardrobe’s tracks | Doors that will not glide | Number the top and bottom tracks |
These are part of a longer list in furniture moving mistakes in Jeddah, which covers what goes wrong across every room, not only the bedroom.
Prepare the new room before we arrive
Half the assembly time is lost hesitating over where each piece goes. Decide before we come and the move ends sooner than you expect:
- Where will the bed go, which way will its head face, and is it clear of the AC outlet blowing straight on it?
- Where will the wardrobe stand, and do its doors open freely there or hit the bed or window?
- Is the wall the wardrobe leans against straight? A leaning wall stops doors closing.
- Where does the dresser go, and is the light right for it?
- Are there sockets near the nightstands?
- Is the floor clean and the space clear of cartons?
If the bedroom is part of a whole-flat move, moving a flat in one day in Jeddah helps you order the rooms and plan the time, and explains why the bedroom usually goes first so it is ready for the first night.
Questions to ask before booking
- Does the price include taking apart and rebuilding the bed and wardrobe? If not, what is added?
- Do you handle sliding wardrobes and hydraulic beds?
- How do you carry mirrors — upright or flat?
- Is one trip enough, or are two trips or a wanet better?
- Do you keep screws in numbered bags?
- Do you rebuild in the new home in the same visit?

Frequently asked questions
Is one dabab trip enough for a full bedroom?
Yes, in most cases: the bed, mattress, dresser, nightstands and a medium wardrobe fit in one trip once taken apart and arranged. A large multi-section wardrobe with many cartons may need two trips or a small wanet.
How much does moving a bedroom in Jeddah cost?
Moving a room of furniture between neighbouring districts starts from SAR 110, and a north-to-south move from SAR 185. Dismantling and assembly are priced by number of pieces, so ask for an itemised quote.
Is dismantling and assembly included in the moving price?
Dismantling and assembly are priced by number and type of pieces and stated in the agreement before loading, so there are no surprises. A standard bed and wardrobe are quicker than a sliding wardrobe or a hydraulic storage bed.
How long does moving a full bedroom take?
Usually part of a day, from dismantling to rebuilding, longer or shorter depending on the wardrobe type, floor, lift and distance. Emptying the wardrobe in advance saves a large share of the time.
Must the wardrobe be emptied before the move?
Yes, empty the wardrobe and drawers completely before the day. A full wardrobe is far heavier, and its inner shelves break and hinges bend when it is lifted and tilted.
How are dresser and wardrobe mirrors moved?
Mirrors are removed where possible, wrapped in cardboard and blankets, and carried upright, never flat, with nothing on top. Mirrors are what breaks most in bedroom moves when laid flat under other pieces.
Can a wardrobe move without being taken apart?
Yes, if it passes through doors, stairs and lift, and that is better for MDF wardrobes because repeated dismantling widens screw holes. We measure the wardrobe and the route with you before deciding.
Do you move built-in wardrobes?
A wardrobe fixed with screws can usually be taken down, while one built into the wall normally stays. We assess it on arrival and tell you plainly if removal would damage the piece or the wall; check with the landlord before removing anything fixed.
How should I move clothes from the wardrobe?
The easiest way is to leave clothes on their hangers inside large bags or wardrobe boxes, and put folded items in suitcases or cartons labelled by room. That cuts unpacking and sorting in the new home.
